The Practical Driving Test
Before taking your practical theory test is important that both you and your driving instructor feel you are ready. On average most learners will need around 45hrs of professional lessons complimented with around 22 hours practice with friends or relatives to have the necessary confidence and driving ability to pass your test.
Mock Test
To ensure that my students are completely ready for their driving test we will undertake a mock driving test so that we can identify any areas that might need to be worked on ahead of the test.
On the day
It is advisable to use your instructors car for your practical test however you can choose to use your own car if it meets all the criteria found here on the gov.uk website. You can also choose to book extra driving time with me just before your test to help you feel more relaxed behind the wheel.
You should arrive at the test centre 15 minutes before your test and ensure you have the relevant documents with you such as your driving licence and theory test pass certificate.
You can also choose to have your instructor, a friend or relative with you in the back of the car during your test if you wish.
The test will last around 40 minutes and at the end the examiner will tell you if you have passed or failed. Watch the DVSA video on what to expect when taking your practical driving test.
